For more than 15 years, Navitaire has been a pioneer in implementing information technology and business process solutions that enable substantial profitability gains for our customers.
Navitaire's roots began in 1993 as PRA Solutions®, offering revenue accounting and revenue protection solutions to major carriers. Subsequently, PRA Solutions developed the via World NetworkSM direct distribution technology as an alternative to costly GDS systems and then acquired the Open Skies airline reservation division of Hewlett-Packard in 2000. In 2001, the company changed its name to Navitaire to recognize the convergence of these disciplines focused on creating efficient and profitable solutions for leading airlines.
Headquartered in Minneapolis, Navitaire employs more than 750 people worldwide, with additional offices in Salt Lake City, Austin, Sydney, Manila, London and Prague. The company has enjoyed double-digit growth since 2002, introducing new products and services that include a wide variety of mission critical airline systems covering the entire breadth of the airline revenue life-cycle.
Our capabilities have grown steadily, and Navitaire's reservations systems now power a majority of the world's largest low-cost carriers, and a majority of the industry's emerging airline category called Hybrid or New World carriers. Navitaire's New Skies Hybrid carrier platform has broken the industry sound barrier by combining and delivering the best benefits of low-cost with traditional network airline models by pairing our unmatched Internet sales capabilities with our fully integrated ancillary travel sales platform, connectivity to all major and regional Global Distribution Systems (GDS), and expanded code-share and inter-airline partnering.
Navitaire's direct booking capabilities are in a class by itself: Airlines using Navitaire's reservation systems booked more than 70% of all sales transactions via the Internet. Navitaire reservations systems booked more than 320 million reservations in 2009, more than 4.5% of the world's total population!
Our acquisitions of the key assets of Caleb Technologies and Forté Solutions has expanded Navitaire's services portfolio to provide innovative products for daily operations planning, management and recovery to complement our distribution, finance and decision support services. Navitaire can now provide a comprehensive package of integrated services - beginning with resource planning and distribution, through day-of-operations, to back-office functions and revenue accounting.
The Geneva operations management solution, acquired from Forté Solutions, is comprised of a full suite of applications for aircraft and crew planning, day-to-day operations management and reporting. The Caleb Technologies solutions, now called the SkySolver recovery suite, enable airlines to more effectively manage flight crews, equipment and passengers affected by service disruptions, such as weather or mechanical delays. Together, these services are a comprehensive package for airline operations.
Our extensive experience in building and operating key airline systems such as reservations, revenue management, revenue accounting and operations management and recovery, has enabled us to develop deep understanding and insight into the unique challenges of the airline environment.
